Geneva Politzer wrote this poem for her sons Stephen, David, and Michael; she asked me to set it to music during our time together at UUCV and this was the result.  Charts for piano/conductor, soloist, optional SATB choir, and optional recorder included.

I remem­ber the night when I first fell in love with your eyes,
open­ing for the first time.
We are moth­er and son.  A new life has begun
the great jour­ney from dark­ness to light.
You’re the image divine.
I am yours; you are mine.
You’re the sto­ry my heart beats to write.

God abides in your eyes;
all human­i­ty ris­es
to hold you in love and hope so bright.
Life begins with a prayer
that this new babe will care for the world,
trans­form lives every­where.

Thank the stars, its a girl!
